After leaving Elmore we finally heard back from an old business friend, Neville, in Bendigo; having sold his Communications business some years ago he is now working as a Flying Instructor with his own Aircraft. He invited us to go for a fly around Bendigo but when we met at the Airport he had decided to take each of us for an introductory flying lesson in the training aircraft; not a quick fly around in the homebuilt “special” which he has had for some years.
The aircraft used for training is an Italian built Tecnam P92 Sports Aircraft which was very light and easy to fly and all up with two aboard (only a 2 seater) weighs in at less then 500Kg! Cruising along at over 200 knots was like slowly traversing the sky. Frances had the first session and then Keith had his turn before we headed back to the caravan by more mundane means!
Frances took a pause from flying to take a few airborne pictures and Neville took one of her at the controls:
