Bramston Beach is a small community 17km from the Bruce Highway; it has only a small local store and a Post Office plus the council owned campground, which during the peak season of May-September is always full. Now, in mid October the tourists have all gone, school holidays are over and the campground is almost empty.
The beach extends to he South along the front of part of the village for several hundred metres and is quite narrow; the main part of the beach extends Northwards in front of bushland and further along across a creek
This is a turtle nesting beach in most years with up to seven nests found 2 years ago (2015) but no sign of nesting yet, although the season is just starting. From this beach you can look back and just see our caravan in the distance (about centre of the beach line)
Beyond the creek the views along the coast show some of the higher peaks of the area; inland from here are Mount Bellenden Kerr and Mount Bartle Frere, Queensland’s highest which contribute to this being one of the wettest parts of Australia.
At least with few people here we got a beachside camping spot, althogh interesting to note that this side are all the unpowered sites with the powered area running alongside the road.
