Our journey to Camooweal took us through a roadside Rest Area at Inca Creek, about 100km out from Mount Isa and then into Camooweal (Population 310) where we found the Billabong free camping area, what a great spot with permanent water in 2 Billabongs and lots of birdlife plus horses coming down for a bath.

We found a spot close to the water and would have stayed a little longer but the high winds made it difficult to even be outside the van at times so we moved on with a great tailwind; this reduced our fuel use down to around 15L/100km which is even better than towing the empty van home from Hervey Bay originally ?
