A visit to Darwin would not be complete without a look at the history of World War 2 in the city. The Military Museum at East Point is located in one of the main infrastructure areas of Darwin and the Gun Emplacements which are still in place as part of the exhibits.
The Museum offers some of everything including a very graphic audio visual presentation of the bombing by the Japanese in 1942.
The pictures here tell the story of at least hihglights of the exhibits:
Towards the City from East Point and the Museum is Darwin’s famous Mindil Beach where markets are held every Thursday and Sunday in the dry season and hundreds gather to watch the often spectacular sunset from the beach. Members of the local club paddle by in outrigger canoes as the sun sinks to the horizon.
