Well we are still here after just over two months which seems to have passed rather quickly. The lawn is eating our hoses so we must have been here for a while!
Our house owners, Milton and Sue are back here at the moment but will be leaving again by about Sept 10th to go back to Airlie Beach and bring the boat home. With Frances going to England on October 3, to visit sister Margaret, Keith may be here by himself (plus Tess of course!) for a little longer but we have still to work that out.
We have been enjoying some great late Winter weather with lots of nights now only around 12 and days of 19-22′ we did have about 65mm of rain early last week but nothing since although there may be a little this week. We have had cattle in the side paddocks closer to the van but now they are at the back of the property.
Since our last update Tess had a little altercation with Howie when he thought she was investigating his food (empty bag really) and the result was a damaged right eye but she is fairing well with the help of the Vet at Tuncurry. She then made matters worse by leaping off the table when Frances was bathing her eye and strained the tendons in her left hind leg! So now we temporarily have a one eyed three legged (almost) dog!
She is getting round OK and getting enough strength to jump up into the van again, Vet again on Wednesday (tomorrow). After that maybe a full clip as even the Vet said “this is a very hairy dog”.
We are woken every morning to the melodic sounds of the various Magpies and Butcher birds which abound here, there are also a few Kookaburras but we don’t hear them as often. See gallery below.
Spring is obviously arriving as the various small trees in the garden are coming into blossom. We’ll do another update when we have done a bit more touring around now the weather is better for photos etc.
