Above: Yaamba Rest Area

Left Byfield Forest yesterday morning via Yeppoon for shopping, and then back to the Bruce Hwy and overnighted at a Rest Area at Yaamba, about 30km North of Rockhampton.  Left there this morning and came to St. Lawrence which is about 6km East of the Bruce Hwy (144km travel from Yaamba).  This is a free camping area (donation box for whatever you want to contribute) at an old rec. reserve with good toilet facilities, showers and water available; loads of space for dozens of vans (about 30+ here at present) and you can stay up to 7 days.  Cloudy today but not quite rain, getting warmer as we head North, about mid 20s and mid teens at night, back into shorts soon!

We’ll probably stay here for 3 or 4 days before heading to Carmila Beach, about 70km to the north and highly recommended with a 3 day stay limit.  More news when we have settled in here, hope to post catch up photos for the last three posts in the next day or two.

Lots of bird life in the wetlands here behind the camping area and a mob of Kangaroos appear at sunset every afternoon, coming from the open country to the West both via the Wetlands and the main road.

Lots of photos this time hosted on ImageShack, click the Link or image:
