Leaving the Pilliga we headed for Luke and Melissa’s at Dubbo but stopped for 2 nights at Hickey’s Falls. This is an old picnic area originally directly off the highway but now accessed via a short section of what is now “the old road”.
Plenty of room to turn and set up here, one motorhome when we arrived (and left) and up to 4 or 5 others each night. The falls are only about 50 metres from the back of bitumen area and there is also a walking track to the top of the falls; quite steep in places but even the old dog made it up there with us! Due to the recent rains there was water flowing over the falls at a steady rate.
Finally we headed to Luke and Melissa’s and stayed there over the weekend to catch up on shopping, LPG etc., finally leaving on the Tuesday morning to head for Peak Hill and to check out the camping area at Bogan Weir.
