Oct 2 to 5

Julia Creek Free RV Area: We were going to stop on the way here at a small campsite at Nelia (50km back) but it turned out that they don’t have power or water as our book shows so we came through to here.  This is  a great little free camp, right on a “contained” part of Julia Creek itself providing a permanent waterhole.  There is town water here and you can camp up to 4 days (which we are); no toilets but public dump point and water in town when  the tank needs emptying or filling.  Catching up on washing while here.  Our first day here on arrival Julia Creek made the ABC weather as the state’s hottest of the day at 39 degrees (Yes,, well,,).

As you would expect at a permanent waterhole there is birdlife aplenty.  We were delighted to see a huge flock of budgerigars on our second day as well as Brolgas wandering through.
