The Caravan Park here is directly opposite the Apex Park Beach where the local Life Saving Club is located and the Canoe Club; from here walking trails go both ways along the Murray River bank. Upstream (pic at left) is towards town and continues for over 4km through to the main Mildura-Buronga bridge over the Murray; downstream follows the river around for close to 4km before it leads away from the river into the residential area.
We first walked in the upstream direction which is also the course for the local Parkrun which Frances completed on the first Saturday we were here, setting PB of 28:03 for the 5km out and back course!
The walk upstream takes you past Lock 11 which allows vessels to proceed downstream or upstream around the Mildura Weir; while we were there we were lucky enough to see a large houseboat moving through the lock.
