Sept. 14 Monday
We arrived in Monto (above) Saturday and missed seeing the new RV area so we came to the Caravan Park for 3 nights, which gave us a chance to catch up on Laundry etc. A good park here under new ownership and new management, $25/night makes it the bottom of the scale for cost.
Just after we arrived and pulled out the awning there was a loud crack and one end of the awning crashed to the ground! Turned out the slider bracket had broken so we have had to rig it another way temporarily (takes both of us to do it) and have ordered new parts to be mailed to Dalby for when we pass through in a week or two.
We drove out to Hurdle Gully and lookout today (about 60km round trip); definitely a 4WD only road in parts, quite a unique area for vegetation apparently.
Moving on tomorrow to Wuruma Dam which features on many lists as one of the best free camps in the country, expecting no TV or phone out there, will stock up on food and water as we go in the morning.
