Leaving the Dumaresq River camp at Texas you immediately cross into New South Wales on the main road South through Inverell; this is the top section of Thunderbolts Way which extends all the way from Gloucester to the South.

After shopping in Inverell we headed to the Caravan Park in the small town of Ashford which now has only a Post Office and store/servo. With Park fees of only $13/night for a powered site it is a popular stopover along this route.  We stayed here for 4 nights and caught up on Laundry (free washing machine).

From here we continued South to Bundara and the Lions Park on the bank of the Gwydir River; we stayed here in 2015 on our way back to Brisbane and nothing has changed!

Yarrowyck Crossing is a site we failed to find last time though as there was a bit of confusion about which side of the river you approach from.  In the end you can only get in from the South, a road we missed last time.  A quiet spot by the Gwydir River, with Mount Yarrowyck in the background, we stayed here for the weekend before heading into Uralla on Monday morning (yesterday).

The Uralla Caravan Park had been under threat of being closed when the lessee/Manager left at the end of January but the Council have taken over running it on an interim basis so here we were for four days.
