The following day after Schwagers Bore, we checked out the Rocky Creek Mill location before moving through to The Aloes. Rocky Creek Mill didn’t have a really good area to set up as the ground area was all fairly rough grasses etc.
The Aloes is the site of an old holding, or “run” as they were known and now only has an old water tank and windmill (not working) and the actual patch of Aloes that were planted by the landholders. The sign reminds us that there was once a homestead, shearing shed and yards on this spot.
The Aloes has plenty of space like Schwager’s but has more passing traffic as it is on a junction with some farming properties not far away. Again there were plenty of flies which changed the possibility of staying more than one night.
