After 5 days at Lime Bay, accompanied by dozens of campers using the Hobart Show holiday to create a 4 day weekend, we moved a little South to White Beach near Nubeena to catch up, again, on Laundry and shopping.
White Beach is another “holiday” community with nothing more than houses and the Caravan Park, mostly a holiday house destination.
Nearby Nubeena (5 minutes) provides a choice of two small IGA stores, Pharmacy, fuel and hardware but not much else.
The Caravan Park is right on the beach front with it’s own private access and is close to the Northern end of the bay. Most of the housing is to the South around the headland and also clearly visible are some of the “ponds” of the Barilla Bay Fish Farm, famous for their oysters.
We walked the length of the beach and back on Monday afternoon, about 4km round trip and came across the local seabirds (and ducks) and at the Southern end the enormous piles of both small shells closer to the low water mark, and mussel shells at the high water mark. All our other images here:
