We stayed here in October last year on our way back to Brisbane and were hoping for a good three days of weather but it has sort of been a little more extreme.  Each day has been at or close to 40 degrees and nights only dropping to around 29 and the Lake has varied from rippled to choppy.  The combination meant it was not worth unloading the Kayak as it was way too hot in the sun and often too choppy for a comfortable paddle around.

The conditions were not too bad for the skiers on Sunday afternoon with one group using the camp area near us to set up “camp” for the day instead of crowding in around the boat ramp area which is about 300m away towards town.  These guys were all good skiers, unlike some we have seen on our travels!  You can also see here the local horse owners giving the animals a swim in the heat (about 40 at this time).

Others skied by while the shore birds waited to appear until the skiers had left.

To add to the weather mix we got a small storm front yesterday with winds which forced us to roll in the awning and put the chairs and table away but it soon passed.  Today (Tuesday) we had thunder rolling across with hardly any rain but getting windy and then this dust storm appeared to the East of us:

Within minutes it was moving towards the lake and again we had to roll in the awning and close all the windows; fortunately most of the dust went across the lake in front of us and totally obliterated the view across the lake.

So, after all of that, tomorrow we are moving on to Darlington Point and looking at a campground we haven’t visited before on the bank of the Murrumbidgee..more then.
