We arrived here almost 2 weeks ago on the Sunday and after the first week decided to stay for a second.  We had passed through Maryborough last year to get to or from Hervey Bay (as most do) and decided we wanted a good look around.  Maryborough is one of Queensland’s oldest settlements and our next post will showcase the historic buildings and other features such as Queens Park.

“The Cheery Nomad RV Park and Farmstay” is a newly created stop (not a caravan park) at a very reasonable $24/night and 7th night free.  It has 16 powered sites, a camp kitchen/rec room/bar and small but new and modern amenities block.  As TV transmission in this region is one of the few with vertical polarisation we bought a new TV antenna to use here and in other similar locations.  Most of the visitors here who stay for a week or more end up buying something to solve this problem (or get out their satellite dish!).

While here we also finished our roof rack project by taking the basket off the car to fit the tie down buttons to the underside and then fitted our newly bought cover.  This ended up fitting much better than anticipated and is noise free; a little water sits in the “doughnut” of the spare wheel but a small round disc will fix that when we get a piece of suitable materiel.
