Oct 9 to 16: Mount Isa –
Here at the Moondarra Caravan Park (cheapest in town where dogs are OK at $25/night (off season)). This is mostly now converted to Dongas for the FIFO mine workers and has a few places for tourists but good facilities and shade trees. The photos say most of it; Lake Moondarra is about 15km up the road and is the recreation reserve for the town (boating, fishing etc.) and home to a major fishing comp a couple of weeks later.
Jackaroo News: The good news is,after a couple of fuel checks, we are back to a diesel consumption of about 16.6L/100km which seems to be better than we were ever getting with a fully loaded van and about only 1L/100 worse than towing the empty van home from Hervey Bay when we bought it.
