We finally left the Freycinet peninsula after a week and moved down to the beachside campground at Mayfield Beach.  With school holidays starting the next day we were unsure how busy this might get as it is very well known and popular.

On the way you pass through Swansea and we decided to come back the next day to shop but did stop to empty our toilet cassette and fill up with water.  At the Dump Point and water tap we were greeted by this very friendly bunch!

At one point it looks like they almost want to get in the car; leaving was quite an excercise in making sure they were all clear of the wheels and not underneath!

The town of Swansea sits right on the shores of Great Oyster Bay and has a little more than basic shopping with two IGA stores,, the larger being more like a department store, a hardware, pharmacy, and two service stations.

At the Southern end of town, close to the Dump Point, is a walking path to the beach and boat ramp; on the way around we found the coastal ground covers coming into flower  and of course you get he vews across Great Oyster Bay to the Freycinet Peninsula.
