About a third of the way between our stop at McDermid Rock and our destination of Hyden is a popular overnight camping spot at The Breakaways. Here is a large camping area with a toilet just a short turnoff from the main road. This placard explains what a “Breakaway” is and how it is formed; they are a common geological feature in WA and in Narrogin we had one in Foxes Lair.
