Above – our remaining source of refrigeration!

April 7……

Leaving Coonamble, after finally getting the new fridge connected to the LPG and tested we set off towards our goal of Wilcannia in a few days and just after 100km stopped near Warren for late lunch (and maybe the night).

THE FRIDGE WAS OFF!

Investigation showed that it had blown the main 20 amp fuse on the 12 volt heater circuit and also failed on the control circuit (2 separate 12 volt battery circuits).  These wonderful new electronically controlled fridges have no fall back if the control circuit fails (or you have a total loss of 12 volts) so cannot be run on any energy source – 12v,  240v or LPG!

It was still holding a fairly low temp so we had to ring Dometic (the manufacturer) and find a service agent which had to be Dubbo where there are two.  The first one has too much work backlogged so we were unable to contact the other one until Monday (April 10) who was also busy!.. Finally we had a sort of assessment on Wednesday and then Easter was looming – a further call to Dometic actually got some paperwork happening to get parts shipped so here we are on Easter Tuesday waiting for the next chapter!

Very fortunate that we bought a car fridge/freezer at Christmas time so at least have a 31 litre space for the essentials – we are now shopping 2-3 days at a time to make the space work!

Watch this space…..
